Experience

Kim and I participated in our first triathlon when the sport was in its infancy back in the early 80s. I was then involved in a most annoying bicycle accident (entirely my fault) which caused a hiatus in my biking activity. I continued to run (slowly but persistently), and remained active in other sports. Kim and I then gradually returned to longer and longer bike rides.

We have participated in numerous century bike rides, including a handful of the infamous “Death Rides” out of Markleville.

Last year, at the urging of our illustrious club manager, I did my first individual time trial and my first organized road race.

My experiences on a bike have been mostly enjoyable because I have always had the pleasure of the company of my beautiful, talented, and very competitive wife.

Favorite Athlete

I have trouble with this category because I am tempted to claim Tiger Woods since he is apparently talented in areas other than golf but that might get me into trouble. So I will take the safe route and nominate Roger Federer. My runner up would have to be Dave Scott because he was a Davis guy and because he and a couple of other athletes literally brought legitimacy to the triathlon and because he is still going strong today (just not in Davis).

Equipment I Use

I have a Specialized Roubaix Expert road bike (the name of the bike has nothing to do with the quality of its rider), a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR comp 29er mountain bike, various and assorted Nike running shoes (they have to make me look moderately fast when viewed from the side), and, of course, Under Armor clothing.

Favorite Ket Mo Ree Menu Item

Any of their various chicken curries and the brown rice.

Favorite Dos Coyotes Menu Item

Mahi Mahi Burrito.

Most Memorable Athletic Performance

Sadly, they are all in the past. Most recently (last year), it was with my two of my kids and me sweeping the golf and tennis tournaments at a legal convention in Hawaii.

Personal Athletic Goal(s) for 2010

I plan to participate in at least a half dozen or so bicycle races of various sorts and not finish in last place in any of them (a lofty goal). I intend to sign up for a handful of triathlons and not drown in any of them. I probably could be talked into doing one leg of a running relay race.

Another Hobby of Mine

I love photography. I get most excited about landscapes and city scapes but also enjoy taking macrophotos of flowers and other small objects.
